The Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Informatics (BNHI) department within The University of Washington School of Nursing invites applications for a full time, tenure-track nursing faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor. Tenure track faculty in BNHI have an annual service period of nine months (September 16-June 15). The anticipated start date is September 16, 2019.
The School of Nursing excels at supporting research and fostering academic and professional growth of faculty and students. The School is committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion; and has a strategic action plan that considers faculty activities in these areas through research, teaching, service, and practice. Faculty in the rank of assistant professor are offered a wide range of networking, development, and mentoring opportunities. The School's Office for Nursing Research provides an in-depth research infrastructure as well as opportunities for interdisciplinary/interprofessional research and educational initiatives. The School and the Department foster mutually enriching community/academic partnerships within and beyond the University of Washington campuses.
Successful candidates must be committed to research, teaching and mentoring a diverse student body across all levels of the nursing curriculum (undergraduate, MS, DNP, PhD). We seek candidates who demonstrate a willingness to work collaboratively across disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds, and who demonstrate potential to develop and sustain a program of funded research. Candidates should have an earned PhD in nursing science or a related field (or foreign equivalent). Licensure as an RN in Washington State or eligibility is desired. One to two years of postdoctoral fellowship experience is highly desired. Applicants with expertise and research foci in biobehavioral adult health and/or health informatics consistent with the research areas of the School (symptom science, health equity, lifespan health, and innovative methods) and involving a diverse population are strongly encouraged to apply.
