This full-time tenure-track faculty position teaches, choreographs, and recruits in the areas of dance and musical theatre in the Department of Theatre & Dance. Specialization in Dance Pedagogy and Musical Theatre Dance is preferred. Position responsibilities include: teaching dance technique, education, history, composition, and appreciation; leading and coordinating multiple adjunct dance faculty with the chair of the Department of Theatre & Dance; supervising choreography for dance, musical theatre, or opera productions as needed; teaching introductory level dance classes in one or more techniques; serving the College through recruitment, advising, and committee service; ongoing professional development in the field of dance studies, maintaining and growing the relationship between Dance Converse and the Lawson Academy of the Arts.
The mission of Converse College, founded in 1889, is the liberal education of undergraduate women in a residential setting. Converse expands its mission by offering graduate degrees and other programs for women and men. The Department of Theatre & Dance is located within the School of the Arts and comprised of exceptional BA programs in Theatre and Musical Theatre with minor programs of study in Dance and Theatre. We produce four mainstage productions in our various disciplines annually and complement our full time faculty with a dynamic series of guest artists and professional workshops.
