The Research Scientist is responsible for developing and supporting next-generation bioimaging technologies in collaboration with researchers in the Pierce Lab at Caltech and the Molecular Technologies non-profit academic resource (www.moleculartechnologies.org) within the Beckman Institute at Caltech.
- Collaborate with PI and the Director of Molecular Technologies to develop novel technologies for multiplexed quantitative bioimaging of DNA, RNA, and proteins. - Collaborate with other laboratories to apply the technologies in diverse organisms. - Provide technical support to users of the Molecular Technologies resource. - Contribute to the preparation of publications, grant proposals, and annual reports. - Other duties as needed.
- BS degree in Bioengineering or related field. - 5+ years wet lab experience or MS degree with 2+ years of wet lab experience. - Proactive, independent, organized and close attention to detail. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. - Interested in creating a unique academic resource at Caltech.
- PhD in Bioengineering or related field. - Experience in confocal fluorescence microscopy, single molecule imaging, quantitative analysis of experimental data, design of nucleic acid systems, and in situ hybridization in diverse organisms. - Experience in blotting techniques, IHC and/or protein engineering.
