General supervision is provided by the clinic manager, RN3, or other designated health care professional or supervisor. Physicians and nurse practitioners provide immediate supervision of services performed by Medical Assistants under the provider's orders for specific patients. Provides leadership for Medical Assistant staff, and in clinical administrative functions.Provides Leadership to Medical Assistants
Provide leadership to Medical Assistants and others by leading the work.
Participates in staff meetings in person and/or actively seeks to keep informed of information/idea sharing.
Accountable for scheduling Medical Assistants and others to ensure appropriate staffing and coverage.
Trains Medical Assistants and others; serve as a resource to other clinical staff, maintain training and orientation material for Medical Assistants and others.
Participates in interviewing applicants, collaborate with supervisors for hiring decisions, train and orient new employees, and provide information to supervisors for employee performance evaluations.Clinic Flow
Monitors and manages the flow of patients in the clinic throughout the day.
Demonstrates the ability to be organized and effectively prioritizes work tasks for the needs of the clinic.Patient Care Procedures
Performs direct patient care procedures according to their level of education, certification, and clinic protocol.
Provides skilled assistance to providers performing patient care procedures in the clinic.
Maintains sterile technique during treatments and special procedures as indicated.Patient Specific Care
Provides accurate, appropriate, and culturally sensitive education to clinic patients.
Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.
Triage patient phone calls alongside ARNP and health care team.Patient Care – Safety
Maintains infection control standards including hand hygiene and appropriate use of personal protective attire.
Responds appropriately to patients in physical distress or emergency situations.Coordination of Care
Assists providers and clinic RNs in the maintenance of clinic processes to ensure timely follow-up on reported test results.
Assists with coordination of care including clarifying patient follow-up and scheduling patient appointments.
Assists with clinic summaries for health care team.
Assists with coordination of care with departments within UWMC.Documentation
Accurately and thoroughly documents provision of patient care in a timely manner.
Maintains, completes and submits required clinic reports and audits in a timely manner.General Clinic Duties
Performs duties of PSR, office assistants or other support staff as required by clinic needs.
Answers telephone calls in a professional manner and directs calls appropriately.
Responds to patient issues and refers issues as appropriate.Billing Practices
