Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a full-time Director of the Physical Plant with the Physical Plant.
Gustavus Adolphus College is a private liberal arts college in Saint Peter, Minn., that prepares over 2,200 undergraduates for lives of leadership, service, and lifelong learning. This opportunity is a position of great importance to oversee the development and implementation of all programs, policies, procedures, and budgets related to the Physical Plant. This position will direct the design, construction, maintenance, remodeling, and repair of all campus facilities, and is responsible for the hiring and supervision of physical plant personnel for the College. This position reports to the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the College.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for directing all activities related to facility maintenance and facility design/construction/renovation.
Participates in strategic discussions with academic, student and administrative programming as they impact such facilities.
Responsible for the planning, development and management of all physical plant operating budgets.
Responsible for internal controls and procedures for all areas of responsibility.
Responsible for and provides leadership in energy conservation and sustainability of facilities as set forth in the College's Strategic Plan.
Responsible for compliance with applicable Federal, State and local laws, codes, and regulations as they pertain to the Physical Plant Department.
Represents the College in matters relating to City Planning and Zoning, Public Works, and various public and private utilities.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in related field
Must possess 10 years of relevant experience with a history of successful management of significant physical plant projects and departments.
Must demonstrate a high level of passion for excellence in facilities construction and maintenance.
Must possess strong written and oral communication skills.
Must possess excellent organizational sense and demonstrated management and leadership ability.
Must have a familiarity with current business practices that are relevant to Gustavus Adolphus College.
Must have experience with annual budget planning, forecasting and expense management.
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architectural, civil, electrical, mechanical or other field of engineering.
