Involves instructional or program activities related to recreation, leisure, and fitness in an accredited environment; provides first aid and emergency care as necessary, and responds to user / customer needs.
Under the direction of the Kayaking Program Supervisor, the Kayak Instructor will lead non-credit Recreation Program trips for UCSC students. Trips generally run on weekends.

Experience teaching basic through advanced kayaking, including experience leading large groups in open water.
Knowledge of boating safety procedures and protocols, including proficiency in self-rescue and rescue of others in adverse conditions.
Knowledge of and ability to assess marine weather conditions.
Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively instruct students.
Creative problem solving skills in a varied and challenging environment including, program management, sound judgment and decision-making, and critical thinking skills.
Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
