The Graphic Design Department in the College of Design at Iowa State University is seeking a full-time, tenure track assistant, associate, or full professor to join our 13-person graphic design faculty and assist in advancing the department's future goals.
Applicants should demonstrate interest and ability to teach in all areas of graduate and undergraduate graphic design as well as in several of the following areas: interaction design, web design, creative coding, typography, experience design, user experience design, environmental graphic design, or time-based media. In addition, the successful applicant must display an interest in collaborative and multi-disciplinary teaching. The successful candidate will have a strong spirit of collaboration and be committed to interdisciplinary teaching and dialogue.
Required Education and Experience:
MFA or terminal degree in graphic design or a related field is required. Evidence of teaching experience or professional practice is also required.
For consideration to Associate Professor rank, applicants must meet, in addition to the above qualifications, the university standards for appointment to the rank.
Applicants for Professor must have, in addition, a strong national and international scholarly reputation.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Evidence of an established solid academic or professional career with promise of further development, and national or international research and/or publications in graphic design. - Promise of significant scholarship in an area of graphic design research. - Experience working with diverse groups. - Experience in one of these emerging areas: interaction design, information design, health care communication, user experience design, and interdisciplinary design.
