Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The School of Education in the College of Human Sciences at Iowa State University invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position in Community College Leadership and Higher Education at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, beginning on August 16, 2019.
Iowa State University, the College of Human Sciences and the School of Education are committed to continuing its national role in the area community college leadership. We are looking for a colleague who can contribute to our dynamic and collaborative community college leadership program (CCLP) team by teaching graduate courses, advising, conducting research, securing external funding, and providing service and outreach that support the ISU land-grant mission. In particular, a desirable candidate willing to foster research collaboration and leadership development with state agencies and community colleges in Iowa. Faculty in the School of Education seek a dynamic, innovative, and enthusiastic colleague who can enhance the synergy that already exists among education faculty, focus on community college leadership and/or STEM in community colleges, seek and secure externally-funded research projects, and engage in active teaching of masters and doctoral students.
We seek a colleague with a track record of scholarship related to community colleges. The ideal candidate will also be an accomplished researcher, with a record of funded research activities and scholarly publications and strong methodological training in quantitative or qualitative research methods. Although the primary position responsibilities will be within the community college leadership program, the faculty member may contribute to higher education, policy, and/or research methods and methodology courses. Candidates who are interested in contributing to the diversity and excellence of this academic community through their research, teaching, and outreach are encouraged to apply.
Required Education and Experience:
-Earned doctorate in higher education or closely related discipline; -Demonstrated knowledge of culturally and linguistically diverse students; -Consistent and coherent record of scholarly publications; -Evidence of ability to obtain external research funding; -Demonstrated ability to mentor junior faculty and graduate students; -Evidence of effective teaching; and -Experience working with community colleges and related outreach programs (LINC, CLIC, and CC Presidents).
For consideration at the rank of Professor, in addition to the above, the candidate must meet the university standards for the rank including a national reputation.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Work experience in a community college or higher education.
Experience advising graduate students.
Experience teaching distance education students.
Evidence of professional service and outreach; including leadership at the state and national levels.
