Harvard Catalyst | The Harvard Clinical and Translational Science Center at Harvard Medical School and the SMART IRB program are developing web-based workflow systems used by researchers and institutions across the United States to streamline the initiation of clinical research studies through Single IRB Review.

We are looking for a full stack Software Engineer who is familiar with Agile software engineering practices and tools, is passionate for development and delivery of quality software, and is capable and enthusiastic about working with product owners, designers, engineers, and testers.
The Software Engineer has the following responsibilities:
Work closely with our designers and product owners to manifest evolving requirements into a working application
Develop appropriate unit tests, adhere to coding standards and best practices, and implement a cohesive end product
This is a term position with an end date of April 30, 2020, with a strong potential for renewal.
This posting is a grade 57 and does not require as much competence and experience as the requirements listed on Requisition #48308BR, Senior Software Engineer, grade 58. Only one of these requisitions will be filled. The grade will depend on the incumbent's skills and experience.

Union: 00 - Non Union, Exempt or Temporary
BA/BS in computer science. The candidate will have previous experience in software development and a basic understanding of Ruby-on-Rails and related technologies.
MA/MS in computer science or related field is preferred. Ideal candidates will have professional experience with end-to-end development (front-end, web services, database design) and building transactional workflow systems. Experience working with Agile methodologies (continuous integration, unit testing, iterative development) is highly desirable. Candidates should be comfortable collaborating with technical leadership, sponsors and end-users. Prior experience in the development of biomedical informatics applications and scientific software is highly desirable.
