The Department of Anthropology in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Washington invites applications for up to three part-time, non-tenure track Lecturer positions in sociocultural anthropology during the 2019-20 academic year. Lecturers in the Department of Anthropology who have an annual contract serve for a period of nine months (September 15—June 15). Positions may be renewable contingent on availability of funding. We seek sociocultural anthropologists who have a record of successful teaching at the undergraduate level. While other topics reflecting applicants' geographic specialization and areas of expertise are welcome and will be considered, the department particularly seeks applicants prepared to teach courses that meet ongoing curricular needs in medical anthropology and global health, and courses related to race, identities, gender and sexuality, and disability. Successful candidates will have demonstrated excellence in teaching. Courses are offered in three 11-week academic quarters of a nine-month academic year.
Applicants must have earned a doctorate, or foreign equivalent, with a focus in sociocultural anthropology by the date of appointment; applicants who have not completed their doctorate at the time of application will be considered.
