The Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics (SVSM) Program Coordinator/C-STEM will be serve as the SVSM program coordinator with C-STEM administrative support. This work will consist of a variety of administrative, secretarial, and office support duties. This position will require knowledge of the office or work unit policies and procedures in order to communicate information involving programs, functions, and services. Duties performed include preparation of documents and reports, the use of office technology, compiling records, organizing and maintaining files, posting information, greeting/referring/assisting visitors/clients/staff/others, mail distribution, and photocopying. The completion of work often involves a public contact role to obtain, clarify, or provide information regarding activities of the work unit or program. This position serves as the primary staff assistant to the director.
General Office Work: Greet SVSM visitors; answer and assist calls to SVSM phone line; assess inventories and order needed office supplies from PORT; prep invoices for payment and follow progress and file when paid; attend meetings; handle student employment and training; maintain office files; keep up-to-date with training; provide expense planning for upcoming program at several points during year to fine tune estimates for attendance, expenses, payroll, etc. and provide information to C-STEM Finance Officer about budget matters; handle SVSM student recruitment; communications with public—applicant, counselor, & parent inquiries by email/phone; mailing/delivering requested recruitment materials; scheduling SVSM Director trips; prepare and submit recruitment report; SVSM Application Review; and handle housing, classroom, and assembly venue reservations.

Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics is a statewide program of the University of North Carolina System. The program is administered by the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics and is administratively assigned at East Carolina University to the College of Education. The program provides enrichment opportunities in science and mathematics for academically talented rising juniors and seniors from across North Carolina. Six campuses of the University host the Summer Ventures institutes each with its own director. ECU is one of the host universities.
