The Department of Leadership Studies and Adult Education, within the College of Education at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, seeks a dynamic, creative, scholar-practitioner committed to experiential learning, quality teaching, student success, strong research, and scholarly productivity. This is a 12-month tenured position responsible for transformative learning, practice and scholars within varied professions. To achieve this purpose the position supports the active engagement of the department and college with its promotion and integration of global, interdisciplinary academic scholarship, coupled with practical experience. The procurement of extramural grant funding is key for the initiation of global and interdisciplinary practical experiences to which the students should be exposed. The leadership Studies and Adult Education department is interested in internationalizing its programs so that faculty and graduate students can engage in innovative and collaborative professional development.
This position is needed due to the uniqueness of the Interdisciplinary Leadership Studies program and the College's mission to prepare exemplary educators, counselors and leaders who transform the communities they serve by solving systemic issues that impact students, schools and organizations across North Carolina, the nation and the world. The program strives to facilitate diverse internship and learning experiences through interdisciplinary and global leadership collaborations that will allow students to study abroad and/or work on collaborative international research/learning projects.
Responsibilities 1.Teach leadership theories and practices, decision-making theories, strategic planning, and organizational dynamics 2.Support and secure interdisciplinary and international student internships 3.Provide action research opportunities that will develop practical leadership knowledge and experience. 4. Emphasize critical thinking and decision-making competencies 5.Engage in extramural grant and scholarly research funding 6.Develop and manage a Leadership Institute within the College of Education which introduces culture and principles of the African Diaspora 7.Implement a global leadership studies program with an international university that will provide collaborative research opportunities, teacher exchange, and study abroad for students 8.Serve as a scholar- practitioner to all students

Doctorate in interdisciplinary leadership studies or a closely related discipline from an accredited university. Previous experience teaching graduate candidates, particularly doctoral candidates, at an accredited four-year institution of higher education with a record of scholarly activity commensurate with the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
