Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing, the Digital Media Specialists performs a wide array of digital communications functions. The position is responsible for managing the University’s social media accounts; editing digital content created by campus constituents as well as creating original content (e.g. promotional materials, newsletters, web-page content); and maintain the University’s website.
• Edit and maintain all content on the HSSU website, which includes reviewing and approving all user submissions for publication • Search for and review external news stories about the university and administrators for re-publication/linking on the HSSU website • Identify and work with faculty and students to create original content about campus accomplishments, initiatives, and news • Develops and executes a social media plan for the University; gathers, edits, writes and organizes social media content including optimization for search, reporting/analytics, content development and working with internal partners • Grows and monitors University social media platforms (including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Instagram) • Works with Media Services to create commercials/promos to help promote university events on social media and website • Ensures that HSSU Brand Standards are applied to all HSSU published web content • Develops and manages digital marketing campaigns • Reviews new technologies to keep the university at the forefront of developments in digital marketing • Provide event support, including photography services and post-event write ups • Devise strategies to drive online traffic to HSSU website • Other duties as assigned
• Two years of successful related experience in communications, marketing or other related field
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Considerable knowledge of digital content management systems • Must have strong written and oral communication skills • Must be able to formally plan and independently manage assigned projects • Ability to use common office machines (i.e. computers, copiers, calculators, cellular phones/blackberry, etc.) • Ability to use popular computer-driven word processing, spreadsheet and file maintenance reports

Physical Requirements: • Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle • Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body • Light Work usually requires walking or standing to a signification degree
Working Conditions and Environment: • Work is routinely performed in a typical interior/office environment • Very limited or no exposure to physical risk
