Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Child Development Laboratory School at Iowa State University is seeking applications for an Early Childhood Teacher (Program Assistant I) to provide a high quality care and education environment to a group of young children, including children with disabilities. Responsibilities include assessment of children’s development, plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum to meet individual child needs, collaborate activities with other Lab School staff, communication with parents, and work with Human Development & Family Studies (HDFS) faculty who place practicum students in the Lab School.
The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of appropriate expectations for young children. The successful candidate will also have the ability to work as part of a team, assess and document child progress, work with children who have identified special needs, plan and implement curriculum, be self-reflective, and have a positive attitude.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling more than 4 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience working with children birth through age five in a group setting.
This is a 12-month term position that will begin May 15, 2019 and will end May 15, 2020 with the possibility of renewal based on funding.
