COMPREHENSIVE WAGE AND BENEFIT PACKAGE Annual salary is based on a 176-day contract with a minimum of $60,951.40; beginning salary will be determined by the assessment of the candidate's education and related experience. New hires cannot be placed above $65,354.92 unless exceptional circumstances prevail.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL DUTIES Healthcare Informatics faculty perform duties and responsibilities under the general direction of the Provost and are responsible primarily to the Dean of the Health Sciences, Education and Wellness Institute (HSEWI). In cooperation with the Dean, the full-time faculty is responsible for the following: Teaching online courses offered through the Canvas learning management system (LMS) as dictated by program, course schedule, and enrollment demand. Assessing student learning outcomes and supporting students in achieving course outcomes through the utilization of teaching techniques effective with non-traditional students, including adult learners. Participating in on-going curriculum development, revision, implementation and evaluation. Providing student advising/mentoring; participating in college governance and decision making. Maintaining current knowledge and skills in areas of assignment. Engaging in self-reflection and self-evaluation. Building collaborative relationships between Bellevue College (BC) and health care communities. Demonstrating commitment to student success through fostering a positive, caring learning environment where diversity and pluralism are valued.
QUALIFICATIONS/CORE COMPETENCIES MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree from accredited institution in health information technology, health informatics or related field Two years relevant work experience in health information technology, health informatics or a related field Knowledge and experience with online learning management systems – Canvas experience preferred Ability to work with diverse groups and teams;Philosophy of education appropriate to teaching in a diverse classroom and commitment to pluralism Awareness of current trends and issues related to the profession Relevant teaching experience – online teaching preferred Effective interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) Ability to work flexible hours, including evening and weekends
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Distance education delivery experience Demonstrated understanding of concepts related to teaching and learning theory Demonstrated effectiveness teaching upper-division undergraduate classes Active affiliation with professional organizations related to health information technology or related field
