Harborview serves a mission population for King County. Harborview is managed by the University of Washington (UW) and serves as a training site for UW's school of Medicine. It also serves as a training site for NP and PA students from around the region and nationally. The Orthopedic Foot and Ankle HCS (ARNP/PA-C) will function as a member of the orthopedic team, managing patients in a high volume out-patient clinic performing pre-operative and postoperative evaluation. This is a clinic only position to support the patient's needs after major orthopedic foot and ankle trauma as well as reconstructive surgery. Duties include; triage of foot and ankle injuries to determine surgical need. HCS determine physical and occupational therapy needs, pain evaluation and treatment and assessment of readiness for surgery and early detection of complication such DVT, infection and surgical issues. The HCS functions independently in a staff position to implement the role of expert practitioner, consultant, educator and researcher within the specialized area of foot and ankle orthopedics. There is common collaboration with HCS from infectious disease, plastics and pain services. The HCS performs within the scope of licensure and in accordance with clinic, hospital and university policies/standards.
