The UW Finance Transformation Program (UWFT) is a $200M initiative to replace the University's financial systems with an integrated system to manage the full suite of financial transactions and reporting needs in the UW system - to include academic, administrative, and healthcare. UWFT will fundamentally change the processes and tools that the University employs to track, spend, collect, manage, and report University finances in excess of $7B in annual revenues, resulting in more timely and actionable information for leadership. Among the UW's highest administrative priorities, this multi-year initiative is one of the largest finance system projects in Washington State and the outcome of the program will be highly visible at all levels of the University and the state.The UW Finance Transformation Program has an excellent full time opportunity for a Payroll Technical Lead. This position will have a dual reporting relationship with a solid line to the UWFT Design Director, and a dotted line reporting relationship to the Director of Workday Application Management in the UW's Integrated Service Center (ISC). The Payroll Technical Lead will manage and lead the remediation of the UW's Workday HCM and Payroll modules. This position is responsible for the high-level remediation plan, including design, configuration, testing, and will support the transition to the post production support of the HRP functions by developing and managing requirements, and engaging stakeholders and process transformation teams. Further, this position will cultivate effective relationships with departmental leaders across the university and the medical centers.RESPONSIBILITIES:Functional and Technical LeadershipResponsible for the implementation and ongoing update of the HCM solution catalog that outlines the changes required to support the remediation work.Regularly review the impact of production changes to the solution catalog; prioritize identified changes to best support the HRP remediation roadmap.Responsible for providing functional expertise for the HR/Payroll and related finance components in scope. Recommends solutions to University requirements and manages the design of cross-application solutions. Escalates issues and risks.Coordinates and participates in University design workshops, assists in the development of business process and role design documents, reviews impact assessment and assists in the identification of gaps.Completes hands-on functional and technical project activities and provides guidance to University resources for the Financials functional areas in scope. Demonstrates and explains key product features, documents requirements and design, provides knowledge transfer to the project team, configures the corresponding functionality and assists in testing and supporting the roll-out.Project ManagementProvide overall leadership and contribute subject matter expertise in the remediation of the UW's Workday Human Capital Management system functionality in scope and oversee the timely completion of deliverables required by the project plan.Manage work stream schedule, scope and budget. Support and advise the work stream leads in the creation and implementation of all key project deliverables.Build effective working relationships with project team members and key stakeholders across the enterprise who will coordinate with the Functional team in a matrixed relationship.Lead strategic planning and establish structure to ensure alignment of both UWFT and HCM requirements across entities.Review and contribute to key project deliverables, including project charter, work plan, budget, status reports, test plans, training plans, risk mitigation plans, quality management plans, requirements management, change management plans, and communication plans.Communication and FacilitationFacilitate issue resolution within and across work streams, anticipate and handle critical situations as they arise, and inform appropriate stakeholdersContribute to project status reports.
