The Student Counseling Center at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications and nominations for a new position as Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. This is a 12 month, full-time, non-tenure track staff position. The successful candidate will join the current full time NP and part-time psychiatrist to provide psychiatric services to enrolled students.

The Division: The Division of Student Life is comprised of over 400 staff persons who serve our students through 16 departments and functions. Division Staff are actively engaged in the lives of students, living and learning with them in our residence halls, student union, and other campus environments. The Division seeks candidates willing to engage, challenge, and support our students through intentional programs and services. In addition, we seek colleagues that are committed to teamwork and have a palpable passion for working with and serving all students.
The Department: The Student Counseling Center is a full-service IACS accredited collegiate counseling center staffed by 15 mental health professionals; 11 psychologists, 2 clinically trained social workers, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, and a part-time psychiatrist. The center provides mental health services to any enrolled student; outreach/consultation services for students, faculty, and staff; and a robust training program with 4 APA accredited internship positions and 5-10 doctoral psychology trainees. The Student Counseling Center shares a state of the art facility with the Student Health Center and the Center for Health Education and Wellness enabling strong collaboration student care.
The Position: The primary duties of the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is to provide general psychiatric services to a diverse student population and clinical consultation to the staff of the counseling center and broader campus community. This position provides limited support to the training program through education on psychopharmacological interventions. The position also supports the broader mission of the university through service on relevant campus committees and/or teams as assigned.
Providing direct psychiatric services including medication management for a diverse student population (70%)
Consultation and training of doctoral interns, graduate assistants, and doctoral practicum trainee (5 %)
Consultation with faculty and staff regarding mental health related matters and service on mental health related campus committees; e.g., Threat Assessment or Case Management teams (5%).
Administrative duties; e.g., maintaining records, staff meetings, phone calls, and miscellaneous case management tasks (20%).
