The College of Engineering has an outstanding opportunity for a Nanofabrication Engineer/Equipment Service Engineer. The Nanofabrication Engineer/Equipment Service Engineer will be responsible for equipment trouble shooting and baseline process monitoring, executing contract manufacturing efforts, as well as facilities infrastructure monitoring and support.RESPONSIBILITIES:*Work with other facility staff and users to identify tool operation issues and address those issues in a timely manner with proper maintenance, repair and troubleshooting.*Characterize and calibrate tool performance using OEM Best Known Methods (BKMs) and process periodically with Statistical Process Controls (SPC).*Assist in new tool facilitation and commissioning and develop calibration and preventative maintenance schedules for tools and peripherals.*Work directly with local researchers, including university staff and students as well as industrial users, to support their instrumentation needs by minimizing downtime and ensuring stable performance.*Assume primary responsibility for calibration, maintenance, repair and servicing of complex equipment used in nanofabrication, including but not limited to photolithography, dry etching, thin-film deposition, and inspection and analysis.*Be cross-trained and provide secondary support for other equipment in the cleanroom.*Work with building coordinator and facilities maintenance to troubleshoot and maintain critical Cleanroom infrastructures systems including Compressed Dry Air (CDA), bulk nitrogen, HVAC, and electrical distribution systems.Work will be primarily within the Fluke Hall cleanroom facility, and will involve hands-on work with complex processing equipment, delicate samples, chemicals, compressed gasses.REQUIREMENTS: *Bachelor's degree in technical field required. Master's preferred. Equivalent years of experience may be considered as well.*At least 3 years working experience with micro and nanofabrication equipment, preferably in a multi-user, multi-disciplinary research-oriented facility.*Significant experience working in a cleanroom environment*Working knowledge of vacuum systems*Working knowledge of hazardous materials handling and emergency response procedures.*Excellent written and oral communication skillsEquivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.DESIRED EXPERIENCE*Nanofabrication experience including both process development and equipment maintenance including high vacuum systems.*Experience with a wide range of nanofabrication processes desired, including chemical and physical vapor deposition, etch, lithography, metrology and inspection equipmentApplication Process:The application process for UW positions may include completion of a variety of online assessments to obtain additional information that will be used in the evaluation process.
