The Patient Care Coordinator Supervisor (PCCS) for Surgical Services is responsible for the oversite of 40+ surgical patient care coordinators. The PCCS is responsible for development, review, and maintenance of surgical care coordination as formulated by Harborview surgeons or their designee, and the patient's access to various healthcare services including inpatient and outpatient surgery and anesthesia-assisted procedures. The PCCS will provide oversite to the surgical patient care coordinators to coordinate the patient's journey through the perioperative system, ancillary services, and serve as patient advocatePOSITION SUMMARY:*The Patient Care Coordinator Supervisor (PCCS) for Surgical Services is an integral part of the Leadership team providing excellent service to patients, families, providers and staff.*With delegated authority, the PCCS supervises the Surgical Patient Care Coordinators. Interviews and recommends applicants for open positions and is responsible for "onboarding" new employees.*Assure compliant and appropriate intake, referral management, authorization and OR Scheduling by PCC staff. Maintains skills as PCC, monitors performance of PCCs and provides clinical backup to PCC staff.*Supervise all aspects of scheduling, EPIC referral management/standards and patient flow through the non-clinical aspects of the peri-operative process. Active participant in meetings. Coordinate provider schedules and templating, including monitoring provider availability with an emphasis on availability.*Assure compliance with standards for scheduling, linking appointments, telephone service standards, referral process coordination, financial pre-authorization and financial clearance, and other standard operating procedures. Coordinate with the Contact Center(CC) to streamline the appointing process and workflows with the CC and the Referral Coordinators.*With delegated authority, assure timely charge capture processes. Works with service staff, UWP, clinic staff, providers, PSS staff, coders and Charge Capture staff to assure compliance with hospital charge capture standards, including oversight of e-fee sheet process. Analyze "open encounter" reports and inform physicians of outstanding open records that need to be completed.*Supervise Surgical Patient Care Coordinators. Prepares/maintains policies and procedures for Surgical PCC functions as well as those concerning referrals, charge capture, maintenance of office equipment, as needed.*Leads team to demonstrate service excellence in: reception, arrival and discharge activities; scheduling appointments; telephone service and call routing; referral process coordination; surgical scheduling; charge capture processes; other delegated duties as needed to maintain operations.*Assign/schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations, and recommend disciplinary action*Attend meetings helpful to the workflow of surgical patients.*Active member of leadership team, responsible for monthly rounding and AIDET observations with staff and patients, assuring Patients are First focus - every patient, every time.
