UW Medical Center has two outstanding opportunities for evening shift, FULL-TIME (100%) HOSPITAL CENTRAL SERVICES TECHNICIAN 1's in our UWMC Central Supplies Processing Department (CSPD). This position will receive, decontaminate, assemble, sterilize and package equipment and supplies following established procedures. The Technician 1 is expected to function under general supervision in carrying out day to day assignments, working closely with the In-Charge Hospital Central Service Transport Tech I and the CSPD Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES:Pick up and transport soiled instruments, basins, respiratory items and patient equipment from all patient care areas to the decontam area in ProcessingUsing approved cleaning solution, decontaminate patient equipment; log equipment number on Patient Equipment Return Form and return to Equipment Storage Room for reissue.Sort, soak, and hand-clean basins and instruments; disassemble as needed; load into baskets and process through automatic washer decontaminatorsAssemble and set up patient equipment such as IV pumps, vacuum regulators (wall suction), chest pumps, hyper/hypothermia units; test and make minor repairs and adjustments to equipmentLoad and operate semi-automatic cart washer to clean case carts, utility carts, patient chairs, etc. Perform basic calculations related to verifying sterilizer functions and inventory controlLoad Cart Washer carts and process products, including surgical instrument sets and respiratory equipment, through terminalOrder supplies and instruments as neededInventory shelf level of processed items; rotate trays and products to accommodate inventory movement before shelf-life expiration dates; remove outdated trays and products from shelvesUnload linen carts and place in appropriate places in ProcessingUnload autoclave carts and place sterile supplies in proper location in MM StoresPerform related duties as requiredMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:One year of experience as a Hospital Central Services Technician Trainee or equivalent, OR equivalent education/experience.DESIRABLES:IAHCSMM certification.This position provides opportunities to work in a fast-paced, challenging, diverse and rewarding environment.
