Columbia Basin College ("CBC" or the "College") seeks an Assistant Director for Student Recreation and Wellness to provide oversight of the day-to-day operations of the CBC Fitness Center, along with programming support for CBC's Student Recreation and Wellness Programs. The CBC Fitness Center is a student recreation center under the Student Services Division, used by current enrolled CBC students, Gold Card/Senior community members, CBC athletic teams and faculty and staff wellness participants.
This is a salaried position and has a varied schedule, which can include early mornings, evenings and occasional weekend shifts or as needed for unplanned absences or needs. The Assistant Director must demonstrate professionalism, strong customer service and a commitment to safety and Fitness Center processes in support of students and other users of the Fitness Center. This position reports to the Director for Student Recreation and Wellness.

Oversee and manage the daily operations of the CBC Fitness Center, including but not limited to, opening and preparation; development and enforcement of policies, procedures and standards; manage the laundry room, locker rooms and building issues; recordkeeping and fitness center equipment/asset management;
Supervise Fitness Center student employees and part-time hourly staff, including hiring, training, payroll and scheduling in compliance with established procedures;
Ensure a high level of customer service for all groups and individuals utilizing the Fitness Center facilities and services;
Oversee the use, care, operation, maintenance and recordkeeping of all fitness equipment;
Provide information to Fitness Center users on equipment usage and correct misuse of exercise equipment to prevent injuries or damages;
Encourage health and wellness through collaborative programming with Student Recreation and Wellness, Physical Education/Exercise Science, Human Resources and other departments;
Provide appropriate response and care during emergency situations to users who may experience illness or injury, including assessing the situation, calling for emergency resources, appropriate execution of CBC's ES&H protocols, and completion of applicable incident/accident forms, etc.;
Comply with all standards, policies and guidelines of the Fitness Center and the College;
Assist Director for Student Recreation and Wellness in supporting Student Recreation and Wellness programming and events; and
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university;
One (1) year of experience working in a Fitness or Recreation Center setting or closely related position;
Experience supervising/managing staff;
Experience and advanced knowledge of fitness center/weight room operations;
First Aid and CPR/AED certified.
Experience working directly in a fitness/gym facility or recreation center;
Supervisory experience working in a higher education setting;
Experience as a college-level athlete, personal trainer or fitness-oriented teacher/instructor.
Columbia Basin College (CBC) serves the citizens of Benton and Franklin counties in Washington state with two-year associate degrees for transfer to a four-year university, and applied degrees for workforce employment.
