The Production Technician works with Loyola University's Event Services Department, and will provide production and logistical services to four primary University service operations: academic classes, events, conferences, and campus physical asset relocation. The incumbent will prepare facilities for all scheduled academic classes, University events, i.e. this support may include, but is not limited to, the setup and operation of furniture, tarps, tables, chairs lecterns, stages, audio, video, stage sections, lighting equipment, and other technical equipment. The position may also be asked to direct student staff, on-call staff, and third party contractors. The incumbent will oversee University support staff and third party vendors during events. This position may be assigned to perform these job responsibilities at any of the University campus locations or at off-site locations without prior notice. These services provide support not only to all University constituencies but include Loyola's external community thus generating a high degree of visibility for the institution. This position requires great flexibility. The assigned hours are 1:30pm to 10:00pm, Monday through Friday, 1 hour lunch, with weekend, holiday and weekday adjustments as part of the normal weekly operating procedures. Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and holidays is required. Vocational or technical training required. Valid driver’s license, and 3-5 years of relevant experience. Must possess strong interpersonal skills. This position interfaces with all elements of the campus community as well as outside guests, students, and faculty. Tact and diplomacy are required when dealing with event/conference sponsors, academic and administrative departments, and third party contractors. Work may involve the performance of heavier physical tasks such as walking over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, working in confined space, and lifting or carrying moderately heavy (20-50 pounds) items and occasionally lift and carry heavy (100 pounds or over) items.
