SHIFT: Typically Monday-Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm (evenings and weekends as required for sporting and special events).GENERAL DUTIES:As a member of the ICA Grounds/Facilities team, assist others in planting, transplanting, pruning, mowing, aerating, top dressing, fertilizing, and irrigating sports fields, shrubs, and trees. Apply the application of pesticides and herbicides for turf grass and landscape plants; Maintain adherence to safety policies and procedures. Use a variety of manual tools and equipment such as rakes, hand edger's, loppers, tampers, pruning shears, shovels, hoes, fertilizer spreaders and pesticide sprayers. Operate power and motorized equipment such as blowers, turf vacuums and sweepers, tractors, front end loaders, lawn mowers, bunker rakes, forklifts, lawn edger's, chain saws, small trucks, backpack blowers, rototillers, aerators, sod cutters, and weed trimmers.SPECIFIC DUTIES:Position may be expected to spend from 25--60% of the time working with the Facility Maintenance division throughout the year.Under the direction of others, provide grounds maintenance for Intercollegiate Athletic fields; mow, edge, trim, and aerate all playing surfaces throughout the athletic complex; apply fertilizer and pesticides; provide daily field maintenance and set up for baseball, track, softball, soccer, track, along with all other facilities and surrounding areas.Maintain a high level playing surface for skin areas on softball and baseball.Provide maintenance for 4 Field Turf fields for the Intercollegiate Athletic fields. Sweep, clean, tine, and maintain the turf fields on a regular basis.Provide game day coverage, including set-up, maintenance, and clean up from athletic and special events in the baseball, softball, soccer, arena, and surrounding facilities. Assist with painting game fields, as needed.Assist in day of game football operations as well as break down and cleaning of stadium.Aid in reducing the impacts on the environment including recycling, waste management, erosion control, and help to improve the overall sustainability of the facilities.In the off season, assist with Arena and Dempsey Events as well as summer camps in the summer months. Provide clean-up coverage for Arena and Dempsey Events.Under general supervision, control vegetation growth in all areas around the athletic complex buildings and grounds to include but not limited to Husky Stadium, Alaska Airlines Arena, Husky Ballpark, Conibear Shellhouse, Husky Softball Stadium, Outdoor Track Facility, and the Dempsey Indoor Facility. Perform general landscaping in assigned areas of the athletic grounds.Assist with snow removal around all athletic facilities.Overtime on evenings and weekends as required.Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Pacific-12 Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations.
