Administrative Assistant - School of Dentistry 11870
The School of Dentistry at West Virginia University is seeking applications for an Administration Assistant. This position is responsible for managing all phases of the School of Dentistry predoctoral admissions process.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Manages and provides administrative support to the School of Dentistry admissions process.
Manages approximately 1,400 applications submitted each year via the centralized application service.
Provides individual consultation and interpretation of admission policies and procedures.
Advises pre-college applicants and their advisors of the academic requirements and professional standards required for admission to the Doctor of Dental Surgery program.
Makes small group presentations to candidates for dental admission on day of their interview.
Develops and continually updates an applicant database
Assists with Kuwait Dental Program student admission programs.
Maintains complete confidentiality and accuracy of the admissions process.
Works closely with communications department to design and develop content for promotional materials in hard copy and electronic formats
Oversee logistic details for annual Professionalism Assembly
Pay Grade: 15
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
One (1) year relevant experience preferably with dental education particularly in the WVU system. Experience directing student admissions policies and procedures is preferred.

Demonstrated ability to manage admissions data and programming with utmost confidentiality
Demonstrated ability to review and interpret academic transcripts
Demonstrated ability to value diversity and work well with people from diverse backgrounds
Demonstrated advanced skills in the operation and use of various software programs associated with a PC, including the ability to master new software quickly
Ability to carry out assignments without detailed instructions
Ability to understand and carry out basic accounting functions
