This is an experiential opportunity and is meant to support an individual who is currently working towards a graduate degree related to Higher Education Administration. The Residential Education Coordinator is an internship which oversees weekend and off campus programming, social media, and supervises the Community Programming and Marketing Coordinator student staff for Residence Life and Housing Services. This is a limited-term, part-time position working 10-12 hours a week. Additionally, this position will include an on campus furnished Single Room, with private bathroom and with an on campus meal plan.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise, train, and evaluate Community Programmer and Marketing Coordinator staff (staff employees). This includes 1-on-1 staff meetings and all-staff meetings.
Coordinate and evaluate student programming process
Coordinate aspects of the Off Campus Housing services, included but not limited to: engaging with landlords, online vendors, student education and development.
Maintain and update weekend programming calendar, social media pages for department.
Create and submit program advertisements for campus newsletters and advertise Residence Life programs through MSMU Engage and social media.
Assist in the planning and presenting for the Fall and Spring RA Training
Plan and present one in-service training session during a Resident Assistant meeting each semester. The topic can be of the Intern's choice but must be relevant for the Resident Assistant staff.
Attend, support, and supervise evening, weekend, and off campus events.
Support the daily operation of departmental office, serving as the initial contact with students and guests.
Assume on-call responsibilities on weekends, weekdays and holidays by responding to emergencies, questions
Oversee and coordinate the planning of Central Student Leader Drive-In conference, a day-long conference for Residence Life staff members. The conference takes place off-campus during a weekend typically during the Fall semester.
Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Student Life in the area of supervision, training, event planning and programming.
High degree of personal/professional integrity, respect for privacy and confidentiality, a sense of ethics and commitment to educating students.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications and online graphic design programs.
On and off campus programming, community building and activity planning.
Abilities and Skills:
Demonstrate leadership, programming, and experience in developing and motivating professional student staff.
Demonstrate skill working with individuals and groups with a wide array of identities and life experiences, including gender, disability, class, race/ethnicity, culture and religion.
Respond appropriately in emergency situations.
Accurately assess when administrative support is necessary
Bachelors' degree required
Must currently be enrolled in a graduate program, and in good academic standing with their program, for the entire duration of their internship.
Minimum of one-year experience in Residence Life, Housing or Student Affairs is preferred
