Housing and Food Services (HFS) is pleased to announce an opening for an Assistant Manager-Pagliacci Pizza. Key Responsibilities:PURPOSEIn this newly created position, you will manage the operational aspects of the assigned Pagliacci Local Point venue. Pagliacci is known for their high quality of food and this is upheld by preparing nearly everything from scratch. This position would be located in Local Point located in Lander Residence Hall.Winners of "Best Pizza" in Seattle for several years, Pagliacci has partnered with the University of Washington with three locations. Pagliacci serves 10,500 customers each week between all 3 Pagliacci franchises located on the UW Seattle campus. RESPONSIBILITIESProvide Supervision and Development of Team*Communicates Housing and Food Services goals and objectives to staff and insures that venue activities are in alignment with these goals and objectives*Implements and maintains department and Pagliacci quality control standards and specifications *Develops positive working relationships with unit managers and building coordinators*Fosters an organizational culture within the venue that reflects excellent customer service*Administers an organizational culture within the venue that reflect adherence to Department's Mission Statement*Complies with the 90/10 Rule: During the meal period, 90% of management time spent on the floor, 10% in the office*Promotes teamwork within the venue*Represents HFS and Pagliacci both professionally and ethically at all times*Consistently maintains a professional level of confidentiality*Assist in the development, training, support and supervision of all staff at the venueEnsure Application of Effective Business Practices*Participates in the inventory process from ordering to utilization, including purchasing, receipt, and storage*Ensures appropriate fiscal controls are in place for cash handling, catering tracking and billing, inventory management, purchasing and unit timekeeping*Utilizes systems, such as Workday, for the management of classified and student staff labor*Approves payroll*Consults with Residential Dining Administrator regarding staffing needs and participates in the hiring, training and evaluation processes*Identifies and corrects unsafe conditions, trains, monitors performance in environmental safety and customer service*Creates and implements cleaning and maintenance schedules*Initiates documentation of incidents through the Online Accident Reporting System (OARS) for every work accident and injury; notifying appropriate authorities and personnel*Trains staff on promotions to ensure compliance with marketing standardsEnsure Financial Health of Assigned Venue*Participates in the development and implementation of budgets*Participates with maintaining proper controls over resources, inventory and labor*Participates with reports on probable causes for budget variances or discrepancies and assist with making adjustments*Monitors and reviews reports, including financial statements, production records, staffing schedules and inquiries from the HFS Financial teamProvide Leadership*Participates in the collaboration with Dining Operation Management to ensure the goals and objectives are met*Participates with implementing and maintaining sanitation and other food safety standards *Manages venue to insure customer service standards are met and/or exceeded*Orders routine maintenance from Facilities Services*Maintains visibility and accessibility with staff and customers General*Performs related duties as requiredMinimum Qualifications:*Bachelor's degree in hospitality, business administration or related field.*Minimum of one year of management experience in the food service industry. *Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, communication and problem-solving skills. *Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.Equivalent combinations of education and experience may substitute for required qualifications.Desired Qualifications:Previous work experience that demonstrates:*Experience managing a Pagliacci Franchise*Ability to lead staff within a college or university food service venueBenefits:*Full benefits, including medical and dental insurance and retirement.*Paid vacation and sick leave, as well as 10 paid holidays a year and one personal day.*Subsidized transit and parking passes.*Work for a mission-driven organization that is focused on providing the best possible living and learning environment for our students.Condition of Employment:*A satisfactory outcome from the reference check process and education verification.
