Under general direction of the Manager, the Anesthesiology Technician Lead prioritizes, assigns, and supports the work of the Anesthesiology Technicians. The Anesthesiology Technician Lead promotes the goals and initiatives of the Anesthesiology Department as defined by the Manager of Anesthesiology Services. The Lead maintains professional working relationships with providers, Anesthesia Technicians, and Operating Room staff, and assists with and checks the work of the Anesthesia Technicians. The Anesthesiology Technician Lead assists with the troubleshooting of anesthesia equipment; facilitates the repair of broken equipment; and trains and supports the technical staff in daily work and in the use and operation of Anesthesia equipment, analyzers, monitors, and procedures. Primary duties include: * Serve as a resource in support of assigned staff. * Establish priority of work to be done on a daily basis. * Assign, check, and instruct the technical staff, and coordinate the equipment and supply inventory. * Assist in training staff. * Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions. * Coordinate, direct, or provide anesthesia support inside and outside the Operating Room. Additional duties include:* Perform all duties of an Anesthesia Technician 2. * Support effective leadership by establishing priorities in the work to be done. * Provide work assignments and assist in the direction and instruction of staff in the effective performance of daily tasks. * Assist with checking the work of staff. * Participate in the training of new staff in departmental practices and in the ongoing training of staff in general. * Work independently. * Set an example for staff with exceptional performance. * Develop and maintain professional working relationships with staff, physicians, and patients. Abide by UW Medicine's Service Culture Guidelines. * Have current knowledge of all cases in and out of the OR and assists in the direction of providing coverage. * Work within the scope of practice as defined by the department. * Effectively utilize time and energy by setting the proper priorities. * Practice effective time management. * Recognize and effectively assess probable causes or potential problems. Reason through and correct problems. * Utilize own troubleshooting abilities as well as troubleshooting guides or manuals to assist in problem-solving. * Implement and monitor quality control procedures. Detect shifts or trends indicating potential problems. Consults with Manager on corrective * action before major problems develop, keeping manager aware of issues as appropriate. * Form productive working relationships with co-workers. Facilitate open communication among staff, manager, and faculty. * Provide fair and immediate feedback on problems with individuals. * Notify manager when issues are not resolved and of any ongoing problems. * Notify manager of exceptional staff performance. * Contribute to staff evaluations. * Utilize interpersonal skills to resolve problems. Consult with manager as appropriate. * Orient new staff, residents, and physicians. Make sure appropriate documentation of training is obtained. * Maintain awareness of safety procedures and see that they are followed. Set an example for staff. * Recognize potential safety hazards and take corrective action to resolve hazards. Notify appropriate personnel. * Maintain attendance standard.DESIRED:* A graduate of an ASATT approved program AND completion of required clinical component or equivalent. * 3 years of experience with complex surgeries/trauma preferred.
